Chapman University and Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seek applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in public relations and advertising in its nationally recognized Dodge College of Film and Media Arts beginning August 2018.  Chapman University, located in the heart of Orange County, California, offers traditional undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences and select pre-professional and graduate programs. Housed within the Sodaro-Pankey Undergraduate School of Media Arts, the Public Relations and Advertising degree program has a focus on storytelling for business, incorporating the use of the tools of film, television and the Internet and social media for strategic communications. 

The Dodge PRA curriculum introduces students to public relations, advertising and then allows them to specialize in one or the other.  There are more than 200 majors and more than 200 students minoring in public relations or advertising.

Faculty duties include teaching both theory and strategic practice in introductory and advanced courses, academic advising, program development and service to the school and university.  The teaching load is three courses per semester in addition to continued professional work and/or research and scholarship.


The successful candidate will have teaching and/or industry experience; an advanced degree in advertising, public relations, film or a related area, and/or significant management or executive experience in the film industry. Studio experience, particularly work in advertising/marketing in film or related entertainment areas is regarded as a plus. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching first as well as to continuing his or her own professional work.
